It has been my observation that even PG students are poor in clinical case-taking.
Following examples are very common when consultants receive calls from their residents:
“ … Sir, a c/o pain in abdomen is admitted. US / CT scan report is …”
“… Sir, a c/o head injury is admitted. CT scan report is ….”
Hardly any resident provides detailed history of patient’s illness or injury, examination findings, and either the clinical diagnosis or at least provisional clinical impression.
There is no doubt that medical education seems to be deteriorating year after year.
Many medical college hospitals do not show any accountability towards both students and patients. As a result, training of students is seriously affected which later backfires on them from dissatisfied patients.
